The paper is basic grey "Cupcake" , combined with distress inks, copics, ranger yellow glitter, blue metal brad stickers, sentiment from Stampin up.

Exciting News, M5D now has some new images! I am working with a sweet and very talented artist, Tiffany Mills, to create new digis and stamps.

This card is using "Happy Birthday" which is now available at M5D

I used the color scheme of ColorThrowDown#175 of Ivory, Kraft, Olive, Red. The background colors of the image are a sponge blend of Distress Inks.

MMSC 124 and LOTV Challenge

Glad I got a chance to participate in Midnight Madness Challenge this week,I used Lily of the valley Stamp and make a birthday card for my brother in law.

Some various punched flowers from a tin that I have using leftover papers, I punch the scraps before I toss the rest and store them in a tin. When you want to find some colors to match your paper, it's a inexpensive way to make flowers match the card.

I used blue prisma pencil and gamsol to do the edges around the images.

50th Birthday card

Hey All, boy this summer has been hot 105-108 everyday in TX... Thankgoodness I was able to take my kids to NY to see Grandma and Aunts and Uncles.. it was only 88-90..

I made lots of wedding cards this summer but this one is for a 50th Birthday, using Black and Red. I used a D'Amour stamp

I used distress inks to color and border stamps embossed in black EP. I can't remember the paper name, but I watercolored it onto cold pressed paper. Filled it with flowers and glazed butterfly.

A wedding card for a HS friend using LOTV

I used Lemonade papers from Basic Grey and the wedding image from Lily of the Valley with copics and glaze on the top. The sentiment is from Whiff of Joy wedding collection. Sprayed some glimmer glitz on the flowers for sparkles.

It was windy out and I had to hold the card down, funny my fingers got in the pic too.

Hi Friends, I had a special request for a wedding card, this one I just put together not using any sketches, it turned out so cute.

If you sponge color onto the flowers, and then use glimmerglitz or color spray it melts the color in the flower and adds sparkle :)

Hi Friends, I have just bought some pretty flowers and raspberry plants. Hope to get to them this weekend. Spring is always so wonderful! Hope you have been seeing more flowers bloom.

I watercolored this Lily of the Valley Image with distress inks
and followed
1. Wild orchid #19 - Dieing to Punch it
2. Lily of the valley#89 - Punch it

I used a larger MS punch for the bottom lacy part.

A tip: When using watercolor, be sure to buy the Aquarelle 300g paper that. It's a thicker type of paper and the cold press large sheets are great

Hi Friends, I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving and great time with Family. We spent Thanksgiving eating up all kinds of yummy food with my in Laws and brother in laws. We had a very blessed time. Also just a couple days before that we came back from a 2 week trip to Taiwan, and it was FABULOUS! Despite the 15 hour long flight from LAX, overall it was So worth it. Jetlag for couple days, not so bad considering all the great food and my Grandpa's 90th Birthday. Life is Great!

What a busy day.. we all need to find sometime to craft :)

Custom Card using Lola and Simon stamp

This card I made using Navy CS and Distress Inks on watercolor paper. The edges were embossed in black EP. I saw my friend Carolyn's page where she did the trifold shutter card and thought I had to try it because her card was so pretty.

I also used the Whiff of Joy Kitty Stamp and the Dog stamp is from Penny Black, the birthday collection. I blurred the sentiments for privacy. The diecut on the cover is a spellbinders label. paper: Basic grey Marrakech and edges have been sponged with marmalade orange distress ink.

Hi Friends, Summer went by so quick , don't you think? :) Kids are starting school tomorroww.. yippeee, wake me up at 6:45am.. I'm so not a morning person.

I really tried to squeeze this card in for MMSC :) my MMSC#67 with the fun ribbon, is a card for Operation Write Home, I'm going to try to make some cards to send for their organization. It's really wonderful project to make cards for military service men and women to write home with.

This image was Penny black's new slapstick stamp - thinking of you and the Sentiment Sending Love was from D'Amour Allure.

Hello Friends, it's been such a hot and busy summer :) My CFP income tax planning is still coming along, and another exam coming up next week.. The kids are well swimming, going to toy stores and had fun at seaworld so far.

My card:

I had to make a Graduation card for my Brother in law who graduated from Airforce Boot Camp and so this had to be a manly card. I used Whiff of Joy Oakley image and some airforce wings, replaced the lace ups with the Airforce logo. Still was very fun. For the blue fleur de lys it was a stencil that was covered with liquid applique and then smashed on to the paper, heated for puffiness.

Hello Friends, I finally finished netting the other peach tree by getting on my tall 20' ladder to put the net on it. I used the back of a broomstick and was able to thin out the peaches. That took a whole day, because it was my first time thinning the trees. If you ever see a person using the back of a broomstick handle knocking little peaches of the tree, looks like whacking the tree to death, that person is Thinning a Peach Tree! LOL Taking off about 95% of the little wee peaches and leaving only 5% on the tree so the fruit will get BIG. That sure makes you appreciate peaches! I am growing the Saturn Donut looking peach, looks like a flattened peach, but it's quite sweet with white flesh. However it seems like it's growing really really slowly...we'll see what happens.

What else...The last 3 days everyone had a stomach flu.. bleh.. but we are getting better now it seems :)

Also this week is Carolyn's last week with us at the Design Team. We'll miss her tons! We all wish her the best in her endeavors. Please go and leave her a comment

I am thrilled to have had this last year to share laughs and tears with them. Two of our lovely ladies will be leaving the group to peruse other avenues. Sue and Jane, it has been my honor to work, create and brainstorm with you these last few months and it sadness me that this is your last challenge as one of our MMDT members. You will always be one of the “Original” Midnight Madness Team members and a huge part in its development. Have fun with your new adventures wherever they take you!!!

Now that being said, we have been working hard picking out our newest DT members. Thank you to all of you who sent in applications. Next week we will reveal the first two of our New Design Team members. We plan on adding a few more “3 month termers” over the next few weeks and we are very excited about bring some new talent to our challenges. I would like to thank Sue Drees. She was an awesome March Diva and we really enjoyed her contributions to our challenges these last few weeks!!

I'm enjoying a lot of 1950's music lately, big band era, love the songs and it has helped me create using Famed Artist Al Buell's artwork. My husband bought me a "1950s Pin Up" Book and it's giving me some inspiration :)

I had a lot of fun using the thick box envelope kit. For this card I used a 6x6 kit and I traced a box onto the brown cardstock, and put aqua microbeads around the corners with scortape.

This week I used a D'Amour Allure Stamp - Melissa and colored it with Tombows for the Card image. On the envelopebox image I used Copics. This kinda shows a subtle difference. It feels like the Copics are not a intense but I'm not an expert on it, so maybe it could have been more intense if I chose different colors. However the copics blended better and gave a softer feel to Melissa.

I also used KaiserCraft Paper from McMahonFive Design and Diamond glitter from Michael's Craftstore. MS punch on the bottom of the boxes, Stempelglede stamps for the edges in SU Old Tyme and Light green color. Butterflies are from Hero Arts - Antique Engravings 4x6 set. And Priscilla's Slide Box Top

Next week will be even more fun when I get specialty cardstock for the boxes.. They will be more colorful :)

Stencil Thin Wood Box Tutorial

You can purchase stencils from any Craft store, or Hardware store that is made of thin plastic. You can also change different colors being used as long as some colors are lighter and some darker for you to have contrast.

For this tutorial I used ( you can always change to your color combo):
Thin Wood box from Michae's craft store $1
Stencil ( I used Tattered Angels Glimmer Screen)
Distress Ink pad: Vintage Photo (Dark), Aged Mahogany(Medium)
Stampin Up Red Riding Hood (Light)
Luminart Ginger Peach as (Base) or you can use Moon Glow Glitz Spritz
A Brush and a bottle of Glimmer Mist in Pearl
Sponge on a clip
Waterbased Sealer - Krylon Spray or whatever sealer you have
Flower or Gems to decorate with
Punched Circle of a stamped image

Start by covering the entire wood box with Base color Ginger P or equivalent color evenly

Hold your Stencil Real Steady

Start with Light Color (Red Riding Hood) on the Top, moving from Edges to inside using a sponge, stroke lightly , keeping stencil in place

Move lower and Dab Medium color (Aged Mahogany) around stencil area, keep stencil in place.
Move lower and Dab Dark Color (Vintage Photo) further down the stencil, keep stencil in place.

Let dry for 30 min. Work on the bottom box part while waiting for lid to dry.

After all 3 colors are on, remove the stencil from box lid and apply glimmer mist with brush only on the rim of the lid. If you spray glimmer mist on while the ink is wet, it will make a puddle. After drying, You can spray glimmer mist holding bottle about 6 inches spray with fine mist, try spraying on paper to get the hang of the fine mist.

Let dry for 1 hour, then spray Krylon sealer outdoors or you can use even better product SuperSeal - can use on scrapbook pages too to prevent UV color fading I used Krylon, it has a strong odor but it's very good for protecting the box if water gets splashed on it, the color won't run.

Finally decorate it with Gems and painted Flowers to match, put a stamped image on there to match and sponge some color on the stamped circle image too.

Originally I was going to do this box using yellow base with blue or green shades. However I will have to use those colors next time around. I hope you have fun learning this, try it in different color combinations :) Hugs ~Jeni

How was all of your Thanksgiving? Filled with Fun, Family, and Food?! Mine was Magnifique! Sugar Bowl Challenge #25

I managed to squeeze in a card for my Husband's Grandmother who has Alzheimers. We needed a Christmas card to put our photos in for her to help her remember.

I used the SugarBowl sketch25 - this one by Lillian, and made this card using a Gorjuss Girl. The please include was to use your favorite color. I have many favs but I think the all time winner is Red :)
And also the prize this week is 12 Twelve! Sugar Nellie Stamps. I had to play!

I used paper from My Mind's Eye and sentiment from Hero Arts
The background embossing came out kinda messy because I didn't use my embossing chalk bag, and I put it on after the circle piece was attached.

I used a lot of sponging techniques I learned from attending Kim Teasdale's class at MyCreativeClass Room. She's very talented and is currently teaching 2 classes. See what classes are still open :)

In case I don't get to another post before Halloween... this is what's going on with me:

This weekend we'll be going to 2 halloween parties, one for our neighborhood block ( we also have a Progressive Dinner for christmas coming up, neighbors are planning) quite an active block with 10 kids around the same age). This Sat we'll be trunk or treating where the kids get together at the church and trick or treat from the car trunks ( fabulously decorated , lit up with lights and smoke and some adventurous soul hiding in a homemade coffin...) And there's a chili cookout before the treating starts. I have signed up to make chili, and I'll be decorating my trunk too. Have a happy and safe Halloween Everyone! and let me know what's going on with you by posting it on Priscilla's page I will go there to read so you don't have to write it twice :p

Midnight Madness MMSC24 & Charisma Cardz#41

Thank you EVERYONE! for stopping by to participate on the blog hop and your KIND comments. It warmed my heart to know so many of you came to look and your words of encouragement has made my last couple of days superb! I am going to try my best to stop by all your pages. Please give me some time as I am recovering from the terrible carsickness I had for driving 9 hours straight home and a mild stomach thing. I don't travel well on long trips. :) Here are some pictures from the reunion, I think between all our cameras we took 200 pictures. (sorry took pictures down after some discussions about family photos on the net)

You can see my cards on display on the board for the family Talent Show... and I played piano accompaniment for my husband's voice piece. He did a classic song and sings pretty well on italian arias. Those songs I need to practice a lot for, thankgoodness we picked an easier piece this time... now back to business.

Congratulations to PAM, for receiving the Masterpiece you rocked the sketch! A long time player with us and she needed some encouragement to do this #24 and it looks fantastic :) And to all the winners of the Remarkables , Cabio, Karen Arthur, AKAStamp- Karen J and Brenda a big round of applause!

This week's I used Tilda Stamps and some Wood paper from McMahonFiveDesigns. The papers I used were Sitka - lighter colored pictured here and Wengewood- darker color picture. The weight of it is just light a piece of paper - featherlight! That was some amazing stuff, you should get one just to try. I stamped the birdhouse using Stazon ink and then cut it out using Xacto knife. The only recommendation I make is to be care not to bend it or pinch it when you are cutting around the curves. I don't know what happens if you do. It's like paper, so if it creases then it would weaken. Mine stayed intact pretty well. Then I sponged the edges it, use it just like paper basically.

I also used the Distressed look for Charisma Cardz#41. I regularly check to see if I can play along over there :)

I stamped the tree using Stazon - Brown ink, used the Tatter Angels Tree Stamp and Blossoms Glimmer Screen, and sprayed it with glimmer spray, sponged it in orange and purple colors, used my copic airspray to make the glow behind the trees. Then using Ultra Thick Embossing Enamel on the stamped tree. I used the Witch stamp from the Gurlee Girl Design and colored her using Distress Inks. Papers: Fall line from K&Co, Pumpkin stamp - Hero Arts, sentiments stamp - Stampology , ribbon, headpins from the jewelry section of Michael's Craft store, beads, mini roses

For this week, I made a purse, one that opens and has some fun stuff in the middle. I've been meaning to make a purse or backpack after seeing some interesting posts on StampArctic.com. I was going to try a backpack, or a tutorial I saw from SCS, but they weren't the right shape. And being an Ex-Bag and Shoe Fanatic, now I'm just a card making supplies Fanatic, I grew up in NYC and went shopping regularly with my sister. She help instill the love of bags in me. So it just had to be the right shape of bag, like a Marc Jacobs, LV, or Gucci bag shape. Lol. I'm a little nutty...
but I'm also blessed to have a generous sister, who has a friend working at Marc Jacobs and my sis bought me a beautiful white quilted MJ bag, that I use in the summer woohoo... so back to cards..

I used Twinkling H20 to color the entire image, printed the digi twice (once for the pop up), and glazed with Crystal effects gloss. The flowers were from a Fold It Punch edged with Crackle distress paint, and Martha Stewart Branch Punch. Basic Grey stamps on Background paper( I used Embossing powder for that purple) Paper: From Stash.

This week, Sue from McMahonFiveDesign is kindly given us digital images for us to us. The one I used is called Rose Wall, and I brayered the background to look like sunset colors.. think it went a little too orange. Lol... but the flowers were punched and stacked. The butterfly stamp is from SimonSaysStamp - Magnolia collection. And I used Scortape doublesided sheet, Use Any Punch you have, punch the sheet and then you can put EP, or beads or in my case, microbeads right on there - fleur-de-lis. Easy as pie! This stuff is the BEST to make your own. Also on the top, I used nestabilites floral accent
along with Lindy's Stamp Gang, MoonGlow EP in Hibiscus Rose Orange. After embossing the Scortape with the powder, it looks like a clear skin film - it's double sided sticky.

The Thankful stamp is Fiskars oval sentiments. And I used Twinkling H20 to paint the flowers. Paper: Ambrosia -Basic Grey and glossy photo paper. The digital images are EASY to use, don't be afraid to give it a try. Sue's has instructions on how to use them at her store go have a look :)

I combined it with ColorThrowDown
that required using Bordering Blue, Rose Red, and Pirouette Pink. They have lovely colors there. I also used Scor-tape, we received from Diana from Scor-pal tape some of the really hard to stay on items. Please stay tuned next Tuesday as I will use it next week to show custom diecut pieces using the 6x6 scor-tape sheets

I finally got a chance to play Just Magnolia Challenge#53- Distressingand I included the PileitOn#9, which is use at least 3 flowers. I've been wanting to put a project into Magnolia for sometime now and I finally did it. I love the DT work over at Magnolias. They are wonderful inspiration to me.

Thank you to Ashleyfor the Honest Award! She's such a sweetie, her goal is go be in National figure skating and I think she's determined and good hearted, she'll be successful! I will be thinking about the nominations to pass the award on. I'll have it on my left sidebar.

1.I grew up in Queens, nearby New York City Manhattan. Fabulous place to visit and drops loads into a fun shopping spree! Lol. And I know what good Italian pizza from Napoli and Siciliy tastes like, well living in NYC, you can't avoid that. I practically went to eat there after elementary school almost every day.
2. I have 2 kids both I love dearly - Aaron and Adriana , I will attach a picture of them. I have 1 younger sister and 1 younger brother.
3. I use to play the piano really well, my teacher arranged for me to have examinations at Carngie Hall - Performance center in NYC and then I had kids and moved away from NY. Don't really have time to play these days.
4. I lived in Phoenix AZ for a while closer to my inlaws but now they moved to San Antonio, just 1.5 away. I love them dearly.
5. I love to eat junk food especially at night when all my kids go to sleep.
6. I have an addition to shopping and it usually cycles through stuff like orchids & orchidariums, quilts & fabrics, stamps and beads.
7. My husband and I got married younger than most people, we married at age 22
I met my husband online in a computer text based game- before the age of internet chatroom, and before AOL. We were 18 when we met, and we weren't looking to date. it was just a playing friend.
8. I teach the nursery class at my Church every other Sunday.
9. I love massages and my physical therapist.
10. I love my husband, he's such a great provider. He has given me everything I ever wanted, tons of stuff, I can't think of one thing he hasn't gotten for me.. probably the Moon. But I'd rather have stamps and accessories than the Moon.. Lol.

We are so excited to announce our very first Guest Designer. Our August Guest Designer is Melissa Bove. Many of you may know her from Splitcoaststampers. She is currently one of the “Dirty Dozen” girls. We are so honored to have her joining us for the next month. She is extremely talented and her work will bring so much inspiration to the Midnight Madness Sketch Challenges each week. She lives in Whiting, NJ, down near the Jersey Shore, with her hubby, Robert and her 3 ½ yr old son, Antonio who keeps her on her toes. She loves doing all kinds of paper crafts and her main passions are making cards and altering anything she can get her hands on, especially boxes! Using Midnight Madness Sketch 12

I was in a hurry and forgot to add a flower on there, but the sketch is open to interpretation :) You could say I turned the flower into a girl and moved it up :D I used MoonGlow Lapis Lazuli EP for the words on the tag. I painted the Gorjuss girl using Twinkling H20 and the different layers of lace with Twinkling H20 in various colors of blue.

I used "Maribel" stamp from Stempelglede They are a Norwegian company. I used Distressed ink, Twinkling H20s to paint her, and sponged in SU Carribean cool colors. I use MoonGlow's Adobe Fire EP in the background using BasicGrey Clear Stamp set. The flowers were also coated and heated in Blue color EP and Sunshine Orange EP. BasicGrey Brad in orange and flower from EK Success punch. The embossed chipboard was in Oakleaf Olive EP, also from Moonglow products, they have wonderful filigree chipboard pieces!

And for MMSC11 the bonus winner gets prints from the Very Talented Artist Michelle Perkett ~I can't wait until her rubber stamps come out. All of her drawings are very gorgeous! Have a great one :) xox ~Jeni

Thanks to StampMuse on SCS for letting me know about the Inspiration Challenge, I had a lot of fun making this card. Although I think it would have looked much better if I didn't finish it at 2:30AM... I combined it with Pile It On Sketch#6, see their sketch here StampMuse has been so kind to send me a KimonoSilk Stamp Set, so I had to try a challenge of hers :)

And the inspiration for this card came from Blue pouf pillow and pink ruffles

Of course, Moonglow products were used for the background inspiration. I will revise the posting to include more later...

Midnight Madness Sketch #10 - Jane's Sketch

For this card, I put a lady as the main center rectangle. I decided to do something fun for a friend who is moving to Houston. She lives and breathes fashion, purses, classic stuff... so I made a "One-of-a-Kind" card. I used the digital image from SuzieQ Photostream. For the archway stamp (fr. Beeswax Rubber stamps), I stamped it in versamark ink, black ink (together)and put MoonGlow Morning Glory Azure Embossing Powder on top. Painted it using Distressed inks, Tea, Vintage Photo for background. Then I used SU Cool carribean to paint the blue bkgd. QK Flourish dies for the red swirls. And the most fun part, ripping the brown sparkly paper in stardust Metallic( from www.cutcardstock.com )into pieces to add her dress, topped it off with feathers and put sparkly dots and black glace pen dots on top.

I agree with Bev on this. I would rather spend the time look at your pages than type verifications in. Blog hopping can become such a chore when word verification is on. It's so easy to turn it off and any spam comments are easily deleted if you have comment moderation turned on.

Happy Tuesday, time to play Midnight Madness Sketch! I play the Colour Create Challenge, found out through Di (DT) as she plays in the MMSC sketch regularly. It's always fun to trade. One of these days I'll get over to Magnolia since I frequently use Tildas anyways.Challenge 22 is using Grassy Green, Apple Green, Lemonade, White, sunflower yellow.

The background white flower: I stamped it using vanilla scrapbook paint, painted it using yellow glitter pen, liquid gum Arabic and MOONGLOW mica powder in gold. Moonglow products is from Lindy's Stamp Gang, July Sponsor for MMSC :) Check them out. I embossed a stamp behind the charm using sunlight gold embossing powder. And if you look carefully, the background is sprayed with yellow gold starburst spray to have a pattern of the flower template- that is from crafter's companion stencil from Archivers. Colour Create 21 Challenge and Next Level challenge5

I made this card using the please include colors: pistachio green, aqua, & powder pink for Color Create and also The Next Level Challenge sketch2 challenge5.

The Fiskar circle border was painted with Tim Holtz Fired Brick Distressed Ink and Moonglow Products ( similar to Tatter Angel's Shimmer products) However I think the Starburst Stains in Alpine Ice Rose came out so sparkly nice but camera may not show that. And I painted her shirt with the stain and touched up the butterfly with stickles.

I'll be giving it to my Nana for her 60th Anniversary, I'll be at their party this weekend. Have a HAPPY JULY 4th everyone, thank a soldier by sending them a bag of something! I got mine at HEB supermarket where they had prepacked stuff :)

Here's my card

using this week's sketch #8 below:

I used a digital image and framed it with ribbons and beads. I painted the background with liquid gum arabic and brushed Moon Glow Mica Powder in Carribean Gold & Orbit Gold Green right onto wet areas and it keeps the color there :) Then I used some crystal gloss and went right over the areas to keep it shine. Gold EP over the lace areas on the corners and embellished with some gems. As for the flowers I layered and painted some various blues, green, gold on the flowers before stacking them.

Sugar Bowl Challenge #13 - Lilian's Sketch

At the SugarBowl challenge, this week was to include Kraft paper or brown and cream and a SugarNellie Stamp. Lilian usually has a high contrast image (like great color combos) and beautiful coloring, so I cased her card. She's such super nice lady and always give me tips when I ask her. :-) And all the DT make such delicious cards over there.

I used red background and use brown to blend in the shadows. What is really fun , is that this week's prize is a SET of GORJUSS girls.. Woohoo. I had to play for this. Come back tomorrow for MMSC #7! xoxo ~Jeni

For this week's sketch#6, I used a vintage photo as the feature, surrounded it with microbeads. The background I used Tim Holtz's mask, glue pen and glitter. MoonGlow Embossing Powder in Salmon Gold, Venus Violet. The main stamp on the left is from Anne Griffin's line. And art glitter- amore.

Midnight Madness Sketch #5

Good Morning! For this week's sketch#5, I decoupaged a vintage picture and used Moon Glow Two tone Embossing Powder for the Circle border and the background is painted with Moon Shadow Ink in Treasure Island Aqua. I didn't get quite enough time as I was traveling too much this week and my brother inlaws are over. This coming week I will be helping my Sister inLaw move to New Mexico. It will be a busy week but one with a lot of fun.
